Grief Counseling

Grief Counseling

  • Has someone you loved recently died?
  • Have you experienced a significant loss due to divorce or other circumstances?
  • Are you trying to get through grief and mourning on your own?

Grief is a normal response to a profound loss. But the truth is it takes time, longer than most people realize, to work through grief. After a significant loss, nothing is the same for the grieving person. Even their understanding of who they are and what gives their life meaning is lost. In our fast-paced technological world, there seems to be little room for grieving. Others move on quickly with their lives with little understanding of the depth of pain the bereaved is experiencing. Well-meaning friends and family members will often say or do things that complicate the bereavement process. Often times the bereaved will feel like they are going crazy.

Grief Counseling

Our approach to Grief Therapy/Counseling

Our founder has experience as a Hospice grief counselor and our approach is grounded in a deep understanding of the grief and mourning process. Sharing this understanding is an important part of the process as it helps the bereaved normalize what they are going through. Our counselors’ experience and training also allow us to assess how other factors may complicate the mourning process or influence each individual’s reaction to their loss. In the case of the death of a loved one, factors like how the person died, suddenly or after a prolonged illness, our relationship with the person and even unresolved prior losses can all impact how the grief is experienced.

Integrating various treatment modalities, we help the bereaved with emotional expression and also cognitive understanding.
