Trauma Therapy, Anxiety Therapy, and EMDR in Highland, Michigan: Compassionate Support for Adults Healing from Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, and Grief

Welcome! I’m Lynn LaBrecque, and I specialize in helping adults heal from trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief. With 20 years of experience, my goal is to help you feel safe, deeply understood, and equipped with the skills you need to navigate life’s challenges, not just while in therapy, but long after our work together ends.

I bring a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to my work. I take the time to truly understand your story, your struggles, and your strengths. Healing happens when you feel safe and seen, and that’s exactly what I’m committed to providing.

Who I Work With

My clients are adults who are ready to heal from difficult experiences and build a more fulfilling life. I work with people navigating:

  • Childhood Trauma: Adults healing from childhood abuse, neglect, or adverse experiences
  • Complex Trauma and PTSD: Those struggling with the lasting impacts of trauma
  • Anxiety Disorders: Individuals experiencing persistent worry, panic attacks, social anxiety, or overwhelming fear
  • Anxiety and Depression: People dealing with the exhausting combination of anxious thoughts and low mood
  • Grief and Loss: Those processing the death of a loved one, relationship endings, or other significant losses
  • Life Transitions: Adults facing major changes that bring up difficult emotions or uncertainty

Whether you’re struggling with the effects of past trauma, caught in cycles of anxious thinking, or feeling stuck in patterns of anxiety and depression, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where healing can begin.

My Approach: Trauma-Informed, Compassionate Care

My work is grounded in understanding trauma and how it affects every aspect of your life—including anxiety. Many people don’t realize that anxiety often has roots in past traumatic experiences. I believe that healing requires more than just learning skills—it requires feeling truly understood and supported. I work intently to make sure you feel safe in our sessions, because safety is the foundation for all healing work.

I integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches including:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): A powerful therapy for processing trauma and reducing anxiety by addressing the root causes of your symptoms
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): Skills for managing intense emotions, reducing anxiety, improving relationships, and building distress tolerance
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Proven tools for identifying and changing anxious thought patterns and developing practical coping strategies

My commitment is to help you not only work through what brings you to therapy but also develop lasting skills that serve you well beyond our time together. I want you to leave therapy feeling empowered, resilient, and capable of facing whatever life brings.

What to Expect in Sessions

Therapy with me is a collaborative process built on compassion, trust, and genuine understanding. You can expect someone who listens carefully, validates your experiences, and takes the time to fully understand what you’ve been through and what you need.

I nurture your strengths while helping you develop new skills to manage anxiety, process trauma, and navigate grief. My clients describe me as warm, patient, and deeply committed to their healing. I take your story seriously, and I’m honored to walk alongside you as you heal and grow.

About Me

I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University and have worked in the mental health field for over 20 years. My diverse background includes experience in community mental health, hospice care, children’s hospital settings, and home health care, giving me a deep understanding of how trauma, illness, loss, and life challenges impact people across different settings and stages of life.

Throughout my career, I’ve guided countless people through some of the most difficult seasons of their lives, including helping many overcome debilitating anxiety. I’ve seen firsthand how change is possible when people feel safe, understood, and supported with the right tools and compassionate care.
