Teen & Young Adult Therapy: When Life Feels Overwhelming
Do you feel like you’re struggling alone? Maybe you’re dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, or thoughts that scare you. Maybe you’ve turned to isolation, self-harm, or substances to cope with pain that feels overwhelming. Or maybe things at home are difficult, and you’re carrying more than anyone realizes.
I specialize in working with teens and young adults who are navigating some of life’s hardest challenges. Whether you’re dealing with trauma, addiction, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, grief, difficult family situations, or just trying to figure out who you are, I get it. I also work with adults, veterans, and those experiencing maternal mental health struggles; because difficult emotions don’t have an age limit.
Why Teens and Young Adults Connect with Me
Here’s the truth: I’m not going to sit across from you and nod politely while you talk. That’s not how real healing happens. I bring humor, honesty, and a straight-to-the-point approach that helps you make progress. My clients describe me as authentic and funny—someone who makes therapy feel less like a chore and more like talking to someone who actually gets it.
I have a natural ability to connect with teens and young adults, especially those who feel misunderstood, struggle with negative self-image, or have been through trauma. I not only bring my years of professional experience, education and training but also lived experience into therapy.
My Approach: Real Talk, Real Tools, Real Change
I use a combination of DBT, CBT, mindfulness techniques, and EMDR to help you identify what’s really driving your pain and give you practical tools to handle it and heal the pain. We’ll work together to build your strengths, develop healthier coping strategies, and help you feel empowered to face whatever life throws at you.
My style is collaborative and problem-focused. We’ll tackle the core issues head-on while finding ways to help you feel more confident, capable, and in control of your life. I want you to walk away from our sessions feeling equipped—not just for today, but for whatever comes next.
Specialized Training & Experience
I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from Michigan State University where I earned additional certificates in addiction treatment, combat veteran care. I am also trained in EMDR therapy. Before joining New Perspective Counseling in Highland, Michigan, I spent three years working at Oakland County Community Mental Health, where I gained extensive experience supporting individuals through crisis, trauma, and recovery.
What to Expect in Sessions

Whether you’re a teen who feels like no one understands, a young adult struggling with addiction or self-harm, a veteran dealing with combat trauma, or a new parent navigating maternal mental health challenges, I’ll meet you where you are with compassion, humor, and real support.
